Additional information:
Tedax® is a repellent registered in the Netherlands for use against (biting) insects; it is not an insecticide. Insects are repelled but not killed. Tedax temporarily alters the scent patterns of the skin and coat, making them less attractive to biting insects. Protection begins immediately after application.
Tedax is unique in that this repellent is not only suitable for use on horses, but can also be used on dogs or even on yourself! What’s more, Tedax doesn’t smell bad—it has a pleasant, fresh scent. Tedax provides up to 24 hours of protection against mosquitoes, biting flies, and stable flies, and up to 4 hours of protection against ticks.
Tedax is based on the active ingredient icaridin, also known as Saltidin®. This ingredient is a safer alternative to DEET because icaridin does not damage plastics, causes less irritation, and is safe to use, yet is just as effective at repelling insects as DEET, even at lower concentrations.
Tedax has been extensively tested for effectiveness and safety and has been evaluated as such by the Ctgb (Board for the Authorization of Plant Protection Products and Biocides) before it could be introduced to the Dutch market.
